Punjab govt to provide solar panels to electricity consumers using upto 500 units
Under the scheme, millions of households across Punjab, consuming between 50 to 500 units of electricity, will benefit from solar systems

Lahore: The Punjab government would provide solar panels to the consumers using upto 500 units of the electricity.
The decision was made by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz under a project “Roshan Gharana”.
Under the scheme, millions of households across Punjab, consuming between 50 to 500 units of electricity, will benefit from solar systems.
Highlighting the financial framework, the Punjab government will cover 90% of the solar panel costs, while consumers will contribute the remaining 10%. The panels will be provided through convenient five-year installment plans, ensuring accessibility for all participants.
Addressing the media, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the program's dual advantages of reducing electricity bills and promoting environmentally friendly energy sources. She reaffirmed the government's commitment to easing current economic burdens faced by households.
The implementation of Roshan Gharana' underscores Punjab's proactive stance in addressing energy crises and escalating electricity prices. The program will initially prioritize transparency and target the most vulnerable households, offering them immediate relief through sustainable energy solutions.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed confidence that the initiative would shield the public from previous economic challenges and pave the way for a stable future. She assured that within five years, consumers would no longer grapple with the prevailing energy issues in the region.
