FY22: Punjab govt allocates Rs23.5b for industries, SMEs support and skills development; Punjab Rozgar gets big chunk
Lahore: The Punjab government has earmarked Rs23,5 billion for industries, SMEs support and skills development for the fiscal year 2021-22, with major allocation of Rs10 billion for Punjab Rozgar scheme.
The budget document available with GNN shows that Rs11.3 billion have been reserved for non-development expenditures, while Rs12.2 will be spent on development schemes.
An amount of Rs10 billion will be spent on Punjab Rozgar (with multiplier effect, loans expected to be more than Rs25 billion), Rs3.5 billion have been reserved for competitive grant/loan for industrial estates development); Rs1.5 billion for Hunarmand Naujawan (TEVTA); Rs1 billion for renovation and operationalization of sports goods and material testing lab; Rs800 million for Punjab Vocational Training Council; and Rs1.7 billion for Sialkot Surgical City; and Rs200 million have been reserved for Rock Salt Park Khewra.
The official document estimates that under Punjab Rozgar scheme, as many 150,000 jobs will be created at Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Park Sheikhupura; 100,000 jobs at Sialkot Industrial Estate; 60,000 at Sialkot Industrial Estates; 50,000 at Muzaffargarh Industrial Estate; and 40,000 jobs are expected to be created at Chunian Aqua Business Park.
