Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the Women's Asia Cup after fracturing her left-hand finger

New Delhi: Shreyanka Patil will no longer take part in the remainder of the Women's Asia Cup after sustaining a fracture to the fourth finger of her left hand, the Asian Cricket Council confirmed Tanuja Kanwar as her replacement in a press release on Saturday, 20 July.
The 21-year-old played a key role with the ball against Pakistan in their opening match of the tournament, picking 2/14 in 3.2 overs, and helping bowl out the opposition. She picked up the injury while attempting to take a catch but managed to finish playing the match.
Her replacement, Kanwar, is also a spinner who performed well in this year's Women's Premier League (WPL) for the Gujarat Giants. She finished with 10 wickets from eight matches with an economy of 7,13.
Shreyanka suffered a hairline fracture injury on the same hand during the WPL earlier this year, missing a few matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Despite that, she ended the season with 13 wickets -- the highest by any bowler -- and returned with four-for in the final to give RCB their maiden WPL title.
Shreyanka will be hoping to recover well in time with the ICC Women's T20 World Cup approaching fast as the marquee event begins in October in Bangladesh.
India recorded a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Pakistan, completing the chase of 109 runs in 14.1 overs. They will next play in the Women's Asia Cup against UAE on Sunday, 21 June, at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla.
