58 restaurants and hotels in Karachi have been allowed to deduct 15 percent service tax from the public


Karachi: Tax on debit and credit card payments to restaurants and hotels in Sindh has been increased again.
In the Sindh budget, the tax on card payments was reduced from 15 percent to eight percent, but now the tax on debit and credit card payments to restaurants and hotels has been raised again from eight percent to 15 percent.
According to the Sindh Revenue Board, 58 restaurants and hotels in Karachi have been allowed to deduct 15 percent service tax from the public. This facility is provided for input adjustment of tax payments on restaurant purchases and less number of restaurants have been granted this permission.
It is reported that the actual sales or actual income tax was likely to be revealed as most of the restaurant sales were through cards.
