FIA Cyber Crime Wing is investigating Omer Adil for allegedly making false accusations against Gharida Farooqi
Lahore: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday arrested YouTuber and host Omer Adil following a complaint filed by Gharida Farooqi, a private news channel anchor.
The arrest was made by the FIA Cyber Crime Wing, which is investigating Adil for allegedly making false accusations against Farooqi.
The FIA spokesperson confirmed that Adil is under investigation by the Cyber Crime Wing.
Besides it, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari had lodged a separate complaint against Adil. Bukhari accused Adil of making offensive remarks about Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and other female anchors in his vlog, and requested action for what she described as his "baseless and derogatory" comments.
Earlier, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja stated that the government is committed to identifying and prosecuting those responsible for the leaked deepfake video involving Uzma Bukhari.
At a press conference with other Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leaders, Khawaja expressed gratitude to social media platforms for removing the video and assured that the government would handle the case with the FIA vigorously.
She said that all individuals involved would be traced and face significant consequences.
