Why don’t you exit from IMF program if country is progressing? Bilawal questions PTI’s govt
Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has questioned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) as to why government is reluctant in leaving International Monetary Fund (IMF) program if country is progressing economically.

While expressing his views on the budget FY2021-22 during the National Assembly session on Friday, Bilawal Bhutto lashed out at government for presenting a budget with ‘a storm of indirect taxes’.
“If country is witnessing economic progress, why are you begging in front of IMF?” Bilawal said addressing government members, “Why is government still having deals with IMF? Why is there historic poverty and unemployment in the country despite economic growth? You promised to provide 10 million jobs, instead there is a rise in joblessness and poverty in the country.
Criticizing the budget, the PPP chairperson said that people are drowning in the tsunami of inflation and government has introduced more indirect taxes.
“Both this budget and the budget session are illegal. Ever since the government has taken over, no new National Finance Commission (NFC) award has been given to provinces. Every budget will be unconstitutional until the NFC award is given," said Bilawal adding,
“We increased salaries by 120% in our tenure; whereas, this government has barely provided any incentive or relief to a common man. PTI’s main focus is to do revengeful politics.”
“You are again trying to rig the elections and PPP will not allow that. We will not let this government to do any unconstitutional or illegal act.”
Referring to the electoral reforms, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is also objecting on electoral reforms.
“People are looking at us with hope. Everyone wants to get rid of PTI as this government has exposed itself,” he added.
