Karachi: Mayor Karachi and Sindh Government Spokesperson Murtaza Wahab announced a reward of Rs50 million for Arshad Nadeem—who won the javelin throw competition for Pakistan after 40 years at the Paris Olympics.

Sindh Government Spokesperson and Mayor Karachi Murtaza while talking to the media appreciated the game of Arshad Nadeem and congratulated the whole nation including Arshad for winning the gold medal for Pakistan.

Murtaza Wahab said that Nadeem has taken the first position in terms of throws, while he has also thrown the second big throw. He congratulated the javelin player for his excellent performance.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori also announced a prize of Rs1 million for the gold medalist Arshad Nadeem.

Speaking to the media, Sindh Governor Kamran said that national athlete Arshad Nadeem made a new record by throwing 92.97 meters.

He stated that national athlete Arshad had broken the 118-year-old record of the Olympics by making a wonderful throw.

Whereas, world-renowned Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar also announced Rs1 million for Arshad.

Taking to social networking site X, the singer made a big announcement for the athlete who won Pakistan's first individual gold medal.

Congratulating Arshad, he wrote: “I shall be honouring him with a one million reward through Ali Zafar Foundation”.

Let’s show our heroes the celebration they deserve, the singer said, urging the government of Pakistan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to welcome him like a hero and establish a sports academy in his name.

Zafar also stated that if our athletes and sportsman start getting the support they deserve, we can win 10 golds a year.

On the other hand, Pakistani-American businessman Ali Shekhani also announced a car for record-setting javelin player Arshad in Paris Olympics 2024.

A video of prominent social activist, JDC chief Syed Zafar Abbas Jafri has gone viral on social media, in which he congratulated Pakistan's world record holder Arshad for winning the gold medal for Pakistan at the Paris Olympics and appreciates his services to Pakistan.

Zafar Abbas said that Arshad Nadeem will be warmly welcomed in Pakistan and a car (Alto) will be gifted to him.

He further said that Arshad and Ali Sheikhani will come to Pakistan at the same time, and the businessman will give him a brand-new car.

Zafar Abbas while appreciating the hard work and dedication of Arshad Nadeem said that in such a situation when there is tension in Pakistan, the electricity bills are bothering the people, you gave happiness to the Pakistanis. Thank you very much.

At the end of the video, he further stated that Shekhani wants to do more for you, you come to Pakistan, and many happiness and gifts are waiting for you.

Meanwhile, Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arslan Islam Sheikh announced naming the gold crown and sports stadium after Arshad Nadeem.

Arslan Islam Sheikh said that following the intense wish of the people of Sukkur, he will present the gold crown to Pakistani Javelin Thrower Arshad Nadeem for winning a medal at the Paris Olympics.

He stated that after winning the gold medal for Pakistan in the Olympics, it has been decided to name the new sports stadium under construction in Sukkur as 'Arshad Nadeem Stadium'.

It is pertinent to note that in the men's javelin throw event final at the Paris Olympics, the eyes of the entire nation were on Arshad Nadeem, who was Pakistan's only hope of getting a medal in the Olympics after 32 years.

Last time Pakistan stepped on the Olympic medal podium was on August 8, 1992 when the national hockey team won the bronze medal by defeating the Netherlands by four goals to three in the Barcelona Olympics.

Arshad Nadeem is the first athlete to win gold medals for Pakistan in individual events.

In final match, Trinidad and Tobago's Kishore N scored the first throw of 86.16 while Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem could not make the first throw. Even Javelin Weber of Germany could not make the first throw.

Lassi of Finland had a first throw of 78.81, Neeraj Chopra of India missed the first throw. Oliver Helander of Finland had a first throw of 80.92.

Jakob Velij of the Czech Republic took the second throw of 84.52.

After him, Pakistan's Arshad set a new Olympic record with his second throw of 92.97 meters. This is his best throw of the competition so far.

The previous Olympic record was 90.57 meters, which was set by Norway's Andreas Thorkeldsen at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Germany's Javelin Weber clocked 87.33 meters in his second throw. India's Neeraj Chopra scored his second throw at 89.45.

In the second round of the men's javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics, Finland's Atilato threw the first throw of the second round at 82.02 meters.

Trinidad and Tobago's Kishore N threw the first throw of the second round at 78.96 meters. Kenya's Jewels Yego threw the first throw of the second round at 84.90m.

Grenada's Anderson threw the first throw of the second round at 88.54m. India's Neeraj missed the first throw of the second round.

Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan threw the first throw of 79.40 meters in the second round. Neeraj Chopra of India missed the second throw of the second round.

India's Neeraj Chopra's third throw of the second round was also missed. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem threw the third throw of the second round at 91.79 meters.
