He was upset when he received electricity bill of Rs17,000


Bahawalnagar: A poor vegetable seller ended his life in Bahawalnagar when he received an electricity bill of thousands of rupees.
The father of the deceased told the police about the tragic incident that happened in Tehsil Chishtian of Bahawalnagar that his son committed suicide because the electricity bill was high.
According to the father, his son used to sell vegetables and was upset when he received the electricity bill of Rs17,000.
The father said that his son committed suicide by taking poisonous pills. He does not want action against anyone.
It is pertinent to note that people are suffering from high electricity bills across the country and following this issue, Jamat-e-Islami (JI) staged a sit-in in Islamabad, which culminated in an agreement with the government to revise the contracts of Independent power producers (IPPs) and reduce electricity prices.
