Islamabad: Pakistani mountaineer Murad Sadpara, who was injured on K2 during his Broad Peak adventure, has died, which has been confirmed by Alpine Club Vice President Ayaz Shigri.
Another chapter of the adventure has ended. This year Murad Sadpara participated in the K2 cleanup and rescue mission. Before that, he hoisted the green flag on many peaks including K2.
He succumbed to his injuries after sustaining a deep head injury during an adventure on Broad Peak last week.
According to Ayaz Shagri, vice president of the Alpine Club, Murad met with an accident at a height of 5700 meters. The Pakistan Army had brought four local mountaineers to the base camp for rescue.
The local mountaineers are participating in the rescue mission. They are busy trying to bring Murad's body to the base camp.
Murad Sadpara had set a record by rescuing a dead body from a height of 8200 meters this year on K2. Besides this, he held many unique recorders.
It is pertinent to note that Murad Sadpara in Skardu was injured during the adventure of the 8,047 meters Broad Peak, after which the Pakistan Army started an operation to save the mountaineer from Skardu.
