BBL General Manager Alistair Dobson says Haris Rauf is a prime example of how quickly a player can build a strong fan base in Australia, especially with the Melbourne Stars

Melbourne: Pakistan's star pacer Haris Rauf, renowned for his stellar performances on the international stage, has also won hearts in Australia's T20 Big Bash League (BBL), particularly while playing for the Melbourne Stars.
BBL General Manager Alistair Dobson highlighted Rauf's popularity and impact during a recent online press conference, stating, "Haris Rauf is a prime example of how quickly a player can build a strong fan base in Australia, especially with the Melbourne Stars. We would love to have him back this year."
Rauf, who has played multiple seasons with the Stars, has taken 36 wickets in 22 matches, including a five-wicket haul, with an impressive average of 16.33. His economy rate stands at 7.75 over the 75.5 overs he has bowled, with his best performance being 5/27, according to Cricket Australia's website.
Dobson praised Rauf as a standout example of South Asian talent in the BBL, noting that his exceptional performances have set a high standard. "He has proven himself with the Stars and has been a tremendous asset to the league," Dobson remarked, adding that players from the South Asian region consistently capture the attention of local fans with their extraordinary skills.
He also mentioned that the BBL draft is scheduled to take place in the next two weeks, with clubs actively planning to strengthen their squads.
“We are eager to see a significant number of South Asian players in the upcoming season,” Dobson added.
