Monsoon spell: Low-lying areas inundated by torrential rains

Lahore: A new monsoon spell has entered the country, and various cities have submerged low-lying areas due to heavy rains.

Heavy rains have caused flooding in Punjab, Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan, damaging houses and crops.

Punjab

In various cities of Punjab including Narowal, Shakargarh, and Jhelum, the low-lying areas have been flooded due to heavy rain. There is a high flood level in the Shakargarh Nala Bayan while the water level is continuously rising. Nine farmers and shepherds trapped in the Nala Bayan were safely evacuated.

On the other hand, roads were closed due to rains and landslides in Kaghan, and traffic flow has been affected. In many areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, the land route of many villages has been cut off due to flood rails. Dozens of places have been damaged due to heavy rain in Astor.

Balochistan

While, the low-lying areas were inundated due to rains and flood rails in Kohlu, Harnai, Sibi, Bolan, Jhal Magsi, and Naseerabad districts of Balochistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), and other related institutions to remain on high alert because of the expected threat of flooding due to rains in the urban areas of Punjab.

Sindh

In Larkana, Dadu, Nawabshah, and Khairpur in Sindh, low-lying areas are under water due to heavy rain. Water has entered many villages due to flood rails, and connecting roads and crops have also been submerged in water.
