Lahore: A windstorm hit the city on Sunday evening after which most of the city areas plunged into darkness as over 120 feeders of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripped due to the storm.

Strong winds affected the power transmission system after which the power supply of several areas was cut off. Met department yet to announce the wind’s speed while felled branches of trees disrupted vehicular traffic on roads.
Restoration efforts by Lesco field teams were hampered by a strong wind. The dust storm also hit some other cities of Punjab late evening on Sunday.
Power outages in Mozang, Lawrence Road, Shadman and Ichhra areas were reported while electricity supply also got affected in Garhi Shahu, Mughalpura and Township zones.
Given the heavy storm in the Lesco region, the company management appealed to the customers for their cooperation with the field teams working to let uninterrupted power supply to the consumers.
