Petitioner's counsel submitted Fairmen's Committee and syndicate had declared the degree of Justice Jahangiri ineffective

Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday suspended the decision of the Fairmen's Committee recommendations and the syndicate on the application related to the degree of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, a judge of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), and barred Karachi University from taking further steps in this regard.
A two-member bench consisting of Justice Salahuddin Pahood and Justice Amjad Ali SohtoA heard the application related to the degree of IHC judge Justice Jahangiri.
The petitioner's counsel submitted that the Fairmen's Committee and the syndicate had declared the degree of Justice Jahangiri ineffective.
Justice Salahuddin Paiwar remarked that whose degree was the case and how many decisions of this type had the university made so far? The petitioner's counsel took the stand that the decision was taken by the syndicate in a non-transparent manner.
Justice Paiwar inquired when the degree was issued. The lawyer stated that the degree was 30 years old. Justice Paiwar inquired on whose request all this had happened and whose complaint had been processed. "They are saying that Islamia Law College has written a letter."
Justice Amjad Ali Sohto inquired what was the relation of the petitioners to this case. The petitioner's lawyer stated that the petition had been filed by the lawyers as Karachi University had no jurisdiction. "Only a judicial commission can take action. One member of the syndicate was picked up by the police for eight hours."
Justice Sohto remarked, "Do not play politics here and the person, whose degree you are cancelling should be called here and he should be given a notice.
The SHC then suspended the Fairmen's Committee's recommendations and the decision of the Syndicate and also restrained Karachi University from taking further steps in this regard.
The court also issued a notice to the Deputy Attorney General, Advocate General Sindh and others and sought a detailed response from the parties within three weeks.
