Security forces will be authorized to detain individuals suspected of terrorism in advance

Islamabad: The federal government has decided to extend special powers to the military and civil armed forces in response to the escalating security situation in Balochistan.
According to media reports, the government has made significant decisions to address the security challenges in Balochistan.
Security forces will be authorized to detain individuals suspected of terrorism in advance. This move follows the federal cabinet's approval of amendments to the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.
Sources have disclosed that new legislation will be introduced to amend the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.
These changes are aimed at giving legal backing to security forces, enhancing their ability to conduct operations against terrorism, and establishing joint investigation teams (JITs) consisting of intelligence and law enforcement personnel.
Cabinet sources further explained that JITs will be tasked with conducting thorough investigations and collecting intelligence on terrorist activities.
Individuals deemed to be threats to national security will be detained, and those suspected of involvement in terrorism can be apprehended proactively.
