Court adjourned the hearing on bail applications of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi till Monday


Islamabad: Former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said regarding the Supreme Court's decision to restore the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments that the Toshakhana II case has ended with the Supreme Court decision.
While talking to the media in Adiala Jail, he stated: “Congratulations to the government on NRO II, I should be happy with this decision. The 190-million-pound case is also about to end”.
He added that the NAB Ordinance was violated because these cases were not made by us. All the cases of Shehbaz Sharif were old, only the sugar scandal case of Maqsood janitor was made during our time. The public representatives ended their corruption cases by passing the law, their job is to protect the nation's money.
Imran Khan further said that it has become impossible to catch white-collar crime through NAB amendments, the ways of theft have been opened by this law. There are 7,000 prisoners in Adiala Jail, and none of them will benefit with this. NAB amendments benefit those who steal billions.
“I will take Nazir Butt and Inam Shah and the investigating officer of Toshakhana to court because of whom my wife has been in jail for seven months, added Khan.
He said that the price of the necklace worth Rs180 million was estimated at Rs3.18 billion.
Accountability Court of Islamabad Friday adjourned the hearing on the bail application of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the New Toshakhana case till Monday.
Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana heard the bail applications, Imran Khan and his wife were presented in the courtroom. Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi's lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar appeared in the court.
During the hearing, the NAB officials said that the decision on the NAB amendments case had been issued from the Supreme Court. In light of the Supreme Court's decision, the court has to see whether this court has jurisdiction over the case or not.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing on the bail applications of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi till Monday.
On July 13, NAB arrested Imran Khan and his wife in a new reference of Toshakhana immediately after getting bail in the Iddat Nikah case. According to the inquiry report of NAB, the new case is related to the possessing and selling of 10 valuable gifts including seven watches.
The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad accepted the appeals against the sentence against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Iddat Nikah case, suspended their sentences of seven years and ordered their release.
Later, the federal government notified the jail trial of Imran Khan and his wife for a fresh reference to Toshakhana, the notification was issued under Section 16B of the NAB Ordinance 1999.
It was stated that in view of the law and order situation if the NAB court deems it necessary, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi should be tried in jail.
It is pertinent to note that on August 27, the Accountability Court of Islamabad issued notice to NAB after the post-arrest application of former Prime Minister and founder of PTI Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the New Toshakhana reference.
