Wana: Six police personnel and seven civilians were injured as a result of the blast in Wana Tehsil of South Waziristan.

According to police, two police vans were on their way to provide security to polio teams on Karikot Road-II in Rustam Bazar area of ​​South Waziristan in the morning when they were targeted.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was used in the attack, police said, adding that two police vans were targeted at around 8:30am when the personnel were on the first day of the polio vaccination campaign.

Wana District Headquarters Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Hamad Mehmood confirmed to the media that six policemen and seven civilians were among the injured, adding that one of the injured was in critical condition.

Attack on university vice chancellor

According to the police, armed men fired at the vehicle of Dr Shakibullah, Vice Chancellor of Dera Ismail Khan Agricultural University, Lucky Marwat University and Gomal University, late at night.

According to the authorities, earlier in the outskirts of Peshawar, the terrorists left the suicide jacket, which weighed around seven kilograms, after seeing the excise police check post.

Officials said that some Excise Police personnel were routinely searching passers-by in the Jameel Chowk area when two terrorists passed by on a motorcycle, threw a suicide jacket and sped away.

Gul Bihar Police Station House Officer (SHO) Nauman Khan told that personnel of the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) defused the explosives.
