Complaint stated that the policeman physically abused the two children

Islamabad: A sub-inspector has been suspended and arrested for illegally detaining and raping two children for two days.
According to a report, action was taken against the sub-inspector on a complaint filed by the families of the children with Inspector General of Police (IG) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
According to the report, the complaint stated that the policeman physically abused the two children apart from picking them up and locking them up in the police station, and later left them at the Edhi Centre.
The IG Police ordered the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Ali Raza to investigate the incident and identify those responsible. During the investigation, it was established that the sub-inspector picked up the two minors, aged 10 and 12 years, begging in Karachi Company on September 16.
According to police, the sub-inspector later took the children to Shams Colony police station, where he was posted, and allegedly detained the children illegally for two days. On September 18, he took the children to the Edhi Centre.
The complainants also accused the police official of abusing the children during their illegal detention, allegations which were confirmed by a medical examination of the children.
After the allegations against the sub-inspector were proven, DIG Syed Ali Raza suspended him and ordered to register a case against him.
DIG told a private media house that the sub-inspector is under custody and departmental proceedings have been initiated to dismiss him on the instructions of the IG Police.
DIG Police Syed Ali Raza said that the Federal Police will ensure strict measures to enforce the law and any officer or official involved in any illegal and unethical activity will be held accountable.
He further said that police officers and officials are not above the law and if any of them exceed their powers, they will face strict legal and departmental action.
