Trade deficit increased by four percent to $5.4 billion in the first quarter


Karachi: The trade deficit was recorded at 1.78 billion dollars with an increase of 2 percent in September.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, domestic imports and exports increased by 2.2 percent in September, while the trade deficit increased by four percent to $5.4 billion in the first quarter.
According to the Institute of Statistics, the trade deficit from July to September this fiscal year was 5.44 billion dollars, which is a rise of 4.24 percent.
Statistics agency stated that July-September exports increased by 14.11 percent which was 7.780 billion dollars.
The imports witnessed a rise of 9.86 percent from July to September which was recorded at 13.31 million dollars.
