Army deployed in Islamabad for SCO summit
Troops will remain deployed in the federal capital from October 5 to 17
Islamabad: The federal government on Friday deployed army in Islamabad to ensure security during upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of States meeting, scheduled on October 15-16.
The Interior Ministry issued a notification, stating that the army troops will remain deployed in the federal capital from October 5 to 17. It said the deployment will be made under Article 245 of the Constitution.
The security of Islamabad will be the responsibility of the army, with police and other agencies providing assistance to it.
