Local holiday aims to allow citizens to fully participate in the Independence Day events

(Web Desk): The Islamabad administration has declared a local holiday in the federal capital on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in preparation for the country's 78th Independence Day celebrations.
According to a notification shared by Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon on X (formerly Twitter), the holiday will be observed within the revenue limits of Islamabad Capital Territory, with exceptions for essential services such as MCI, CDA, ICT Administration, Police, IESCO, SNGPL, and hospitals, which will remain operational.
The announcement comes as the nation gears up to celebrate not only Independence Day but also victory in Marka-e-Haq — the recent conflict between Pakistan and India, commemorated through Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. The triumph has infused this year’s festivities with renewed national pride and patriotic fervor.
In Islamabad, preparations are in full swing. Government buildings are illuminated with decorative lights and adorned with national flags. Citizens are enthusiastically participating by displaying flags on vehicles and rooftops. Markets are bustling with stalls selling flags, buntings, green-and-white apparel, and themed accessories.
On the directives of CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the capital has been decked out with vibrant cultural displays and artistic installations. From its tree-lined avenues to iconic landmarks, Islamabad is glowing with the spirit of freedom.
To maintain public order during the celebrations, a ban has been imposed on the sale and use of plastic horns ("bajay") across the city.
The local holiday aims to allow citizens to fully participate in the Independence Day events with patriotic enthusiasm and unity.
