Police and FC reached the spot and started the search operation to arrest the accused


Orakzai: Armed persons opened fire on the polio team in the Orakzai, district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the police, the polio team was performing its duties in the Dabori Badan village of Aprawar Kazai when the armed men opened fire, as a result of which one policeman was martyred and another was injured.
As soon as the incident was reported, police and FC reached the spot and started the search operation to arrest the accused.
It is pertinent to note that this year, the number of polio-affected children across the country has reached 39.
The number of children affected by polio in Sindh is 12, including four from Karachi. The number of children affected by polio in Balochistan is 20, while the number of children affected by polio in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is five, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
