Bandits loot two banks in day light heists in capital
One passer-by was killed and a security guard suffered injuries
Islamabad: A passerby was killed and a security guard suffered injuries after robbers targeted two banks in separate incidents in the federal capital on Tuesday.
After Monday's bank robbery in Sector I-9, 2 more banks were robbed for the second consecutive day. During the CCTV footage of the robbery in Sector G-9, it could be clearly seen that the cash van of the bank made a serious mistake as the driver parked the vehicle on the other side of the road.
According to the footage, the security guard ran away with a large amount of cash in his bag, while the robbery suspect hit him with an automatic Kalashnikov and opened fire.
Inspector General of Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi visited the place of occurrence and told the media that automatic weapons were used in the incident.
He said that there were attempts to rob the cash vans of two banks yesterday and today there have been two incidents of robbery.
"The pattern of robberies is the same and the task has been assigned to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to trace the suspects," he added.
