Smog: Lahore again tops most polluted cities today
There is a possibility of rain in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar today
Lahore: Smog continues to reign in various cities of the country including Punjab, while Lahore is once again at the top of the world's most polluted cities.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Garden City was recorded at 780, the AQI of the Syed Maratab Ali Road area in Lahore was 1,404, the AQI of the US Consulate area was 826, while in the DHA was recorded at 916.
To deal with smog, mobile air quality monitoring stations have been installed in different areas of Lahore, and smog is being monitored in areas under green lockdown.
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain for citizens struggling with smog.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar today. Thunderstorms are also expected in Bhakkar, Layyah, and DG Khan, which is likely to reduce smog.
Motorways closed
On the other hand, motorways were closed at various places due to heavy fog and the passengers are facing difficulties.
A spokesperson for the Motorways Police said that the motorways have been closed for the safety of the public. Transporters should use fog lights while traveling and should travel during the day instead of at night.
