Islamabad: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved Rs. 0.28 reduction in the prices of electricity.

According to details, NEPRA issued a statement saying that a hearing was conducted on fuel adjustment last month and a reduction of Rs. 0.28 in the price of electricity was approved.
During the hearing, the electric regulatory officials were asked the National Power Construction Corporation (NPCC) to explain why it generated electricity from diesel and furnace oil in May last year, to which NEPRA officials replied that in May last month, there was a shortage of 140 MMCFD gas per day and this difficult decision was taken due to low availability of LNG.
The Chairman NEPRA further said that the cost of production increased due to poor operation of the system.
Later, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved Rs. 0.28 reduction in the price of electricity giving citizens a relief of Rs. 3.60 billion in July’s bills.
