10 percent withholding tax will be collected from party booking ceremony in hall

Karachi: The Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has imposed a withholding tax on wedding halls which will be collected separately from the person making the booking instead of the hall owners.
A delegation of the Wedding Hall Association met with FBR officials in Karachi. The issues were settled between the wedding hall owners and the FBR on collecting 10 percent withholding tax on wedding ceremonies.
According to the President of the Wedding Hall Association, Rana Raees, 10 percent withholding tax will be collected from the party booking the ceremony in the wedding hall.
The President of the Wedding Hall Association further said that the decision to collect withholding tax was taken under the direction of the FBR officials.
In addition to the rent of the wedding hall, 10 percent withholding tax will also be collected. The amount of withholding tax has nothing to do with the wedding hall owners. People organizing wedding ceremonies are requested to be aware of the FBR’s policy on the issue of withholding tax.
