Military trial of civilians case: Petition to transfer suspects to ordinary prisons rejected
Attorney General assured court regarding meeting
Islamabad: The Supreme Court’s constitutional bench Tuesday rejected the plea to transfer the detained accused to ordinary jails in the case of trial of civilians in military courts.
A seven-member constitutional bench headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan heard the case against the trial of civilians in military courts.
During the hearing, lawyer Latif Khosa requested that the detained accused be transferred to ordinary jails so that at least they could be met in the jails.
The court, while rejecting the plea to transfer the detained accused to ordinary jails, said in its remarks that the Attorney General has assured the court regarding the meeting and that the case is being heard, so do not go to any other side at this time.
During the hearing, the Additional Attorney General, requesting to adjourn the hearing, took the position that the Defense Ministry’s lawyer Khawaja Haris was ill. He has stomach pain and cannot appear.
Later, the court accepted the request of the Additional Attorney General and adjourned the further hearing of the case until Thursday, December 12.
