Court said that accused would be deported after completing their sentences

Dubai: Four Pakistanis have been sentenced to two years in prison and a combined fine of AED1 million in Dubai for kidnapping and robbing two Indian nationals.
According to reports, the case came under the jurisdiction of Al-Rafa Police Station on March 29 this year.
Court records revealed that the driver, who is from Pakistan, worked with three other Pakistanis and one person who is still absconding. The suspects came to know that the Indian nationals had a good amount of money, after which they planned the kidnapping.
According to the report, on the morning of March 29, the driver was taking the victims to the Gold Souk in Dubai. He informed his co-accused of the location who reached there in a car.
The accused stopped the victims’ car near Al-Mankhool and the accused posed as police officers took the two victims away in separate cars.
The report said that the victims were taken to Al-Nahda, where the gang snatched AED1 million, two phones, and two wallets from them, and allowed the victims to leave.
The victims filed a complaint with the police, after which the Dubai Police investigated and arrested five people involved in the crime.
A fifth person from Pakistan was accused of helping the gang, but he said that he was not involved during the investigation and trial.
During the trial, the court heard the confessional statements of the main accused, the statements of witnesses and the police investigation. They found that the driver had told the gang about the victims’ money and where they were going.
The investigation revealed that one of the accused was found to be the ringleader of the gang. While two others pretended to be police officers and robbed the victims. However, the court ruled that the fifth person was not guilty because there was no evidence against him. At the same time, all four accused also admitted that he was not involved in the crime.
The court finally said that the accused would be deported after completing their sentences.
