Interim govt revoked passports of total of 97 people because of criminal activities in country

Dhaka: Bangladesh has revoked the passport of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid.
According to foreign media reports, the interim government in Dhaka took the decision on Tuesday, headed by Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus.
The report said that the Bangladesh interim government has revoked the passports of a total of 97 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in view of criminal activities in the country.
Of these, 22 are accused of alleged involvement in enforced disappearances, while 75 others are accused of killings during student protests in Bangladesh last year.
This development comes after the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) issued arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina and 11 others in a case of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings during her government.
The tribunal has set a deadline of February 12 for the arrest of the accused, including Hasina Wajid.
It is pertinent to note that Hasina Wajid fled Bangladesh to India last year after intense public protests.
