13-month-old girl has been confirmed to have polio virus


Peshawar: Another case of polio has been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Health Department, a 13-month-old girl has been confirmed to have polio virus in Tatta area of Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Health Department says that the samples of the polio-infected child were taken last December and this is the fifth polio case reported from Tank in the year 2024, after which the number of polio cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the year 2024 has increased to 21, while 69 polio cases were reported across the country in 2024.
According to the Health Department, it has been decided to run the first anti-polio campaign of this year in KP from February 13, during which the target of vaccinating more than six million children against polio has been set.
It is pertinent to note that the polio virus has been controlled in most countries of the world, but Pakistan and Afghanistan are the two countries where this virus is still found.
