13,564 cards have been blocked in Punjab


Islamabad: 71,849 computerized identity cards of fake and ineligible persons have been blocked in five years.
The Interior Ministry has presented data related to blocked identity cards in the National Assembly.
According to the document, more than 44,000 identity cards have been restored in five years, while more than 13,000 are under investigation. The highest number of 25,981 identity cards have been blocked in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the data submitted to the National Assembly, 13,564 cards have been blocked in Punjab, 9,677 cards have been blocked in Sindh, 20,583 in Balochistan, and 1,370 identity cards have been blocked in Islamabad.
Similarly, 228 identity cards have been blocked in Gilgit-Baltistan and 446 in Azad Kashmir. 44,460 identity cards have been unblocked after necessary verification, however, 13,618 blocked identity cards are still under investigation.
