Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziauddin issued warrant on Sunday

Dhaka: Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been issued an arrest warrant.
According to foreign media reports, an arrest warrant was issued against Shakib after two bank cheques bounced.
Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziauddin Rahman issued the warrant on Sunday.
The report states that Shakib had set up a shrimp farm in Satkhira, Bangladesh in 2016, which has been inactive since 2021. The said cheques were to repay a loan taken from the bank by Shakib’s company, but the cheques bounced due to insufficient funds.
According to the report, in October 2024, the Bangladeshi bank issued a legal notice on the issue of bounced cheques and later filed a case against Shakib and three other officials of his company on December 24.
It is pertinent to note that Shakib Al Hasan is out of Bangladesh after receiving death threats due to political unrest and his association with the Awami League.
He is also named in the case of the murder of a young man during anti-government protests last year.
On the other hand, Shakib Al Hasan is facing a bowling ban after being reported for a suspicious bowling action, while he has also been left out of the Bangladesh squad for the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
