TikTok offered over $20bn to sell US operations

A group of American investors, including MrBeast, who has the most subscribers on YouTube, has offered more than $20 billion to buy TikTok.

Jesse Tinsley, who offered to buy TikTok's operations in the US on behalf of the group, spoke about this.

According to a report by Bloomberg, the group has added two more tech chief executives as investors.

Jesse Tinsley told Bloomberg that his group’s offer is more than $20 billion and is significantly higher than other entities trying to buy TikTok.

He did not name anyone, but he was probably referring to a group called Project Liberty, which is interested in buying TikTok operations in the US.

He said that our group is not in direct contact with TikTok's parent company ByteDance.

ByteDance has been saying for a long time that it is not ready to sell TikTok in the US.

Jesse Tinsley said: “We are not in direct contact with ByteDance and so far we have not received any response to our offer”.

It is pertinent to note that since President Donald Trump’s executive order halted the TikTok ban for 75 days, he has made it clear in various statements that the social media app will have to sell its business in the US.

It is not yet clear whether ByteDance and the Chinese government are considering Jesse Tinsley’s group’s offer.

On the other hand, ByteDance is negotiating a deal with the US government to protect TikTok from being banned or sold in the US.
