Tarar further said that some people defame journalism under the guise of journalism

Lahore: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that the PECA Act will protect freedom of expression, there is no point in protesting against it.
Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Federal Minister Attaullah stated that the best practices of the world have been adopted in the PECA Act. This is a good step to prevent the risks of social media and it aims to eliminate fake news.
He added that critics should talk about the clause of objection. Do they object to stopping fake news, tell about one clause they object to. There is no check on digital media and no editorial control.
Tarar further said that some people defame journalism under the guise of journalism, women are harassed and blackmailed, and people are forced to commit suicide. If journalists think that their rights are being violated, then they can go to the High Court. Nominations will soon be made from the private sector to the Digital Media Protection Authority, and journalists associated with press clubs or journalistic organizations will be included in it.
The Federal Minister also stated that the employees of institutions are national assets. The hard work, dedication, and skills of the employees are the basis of the success of the institution. Corruption has caused irreparable damage to the institutions, reforms are being brought in all institutions, no one will be allowed to obstruct the reforms, and merit and transparency will be ensured.
