Cases have been registered against suspects arrested in all operations

Anti-smuggling operations; Drugs worth over 7.9mn recovered

Rawalpindi: A huge quantity of drugs worth over Rs7.9 million has been recovered during anti-smuggling operations in the country.

According to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) spokesperson, operations are underway against drug smuggling and sale in educational institutions and other areas across the country. During this, the ANF arrested nine suspects in eight different operations and recovered 63.402 kilograms of drugs worth over Rs7.9 million.

Operations in educational institutions

200 grams of ice and 172 grams of heroin were recovered from two suspects near two different universities in Rawalpindi. The arrested suspect has also confessed to selling drugs to students of educational institutions.

Other operations

230 grams of weed hidden in household goods were recovered from a parcel sent from Thailand from a cargo office in Lahore. Similarly, 33.6kg of hashish and 4.8kg of opium were recovered from a motorcycle near Daska in Sialkot and two suspects were arrested.

Meanwhile, 15.6kg of hashish was recovered from two women riding in a passenger bus near M-1 Motorway, Islamabad.

2.4kg of opium and 3kg of hashish were recovered from three parcels sent to Faisalabad and Islamabad through a courier office located on Ring Road in Peshawar. 2.4kg of ice was hidden in a car near Khanna Rohi Nala Road in Lahore and a suspect was arrested.

Cases have been registered against the suspects arrested in all operations under the Narcotics Control Act and an investigation has been initiated.
