Victims were kept in safe houses in Libya and were subjected to torture


Kohat: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two members of an international gang involved in the Libya boat accident.
According to officials, the FIA Kohat carried out a major operation in Pusht Bazar Bajaur and arrested the suspects who were identified as Habib-ur-Rehman and Naveed Ahmed. The other accomplices of the suspects were running a human smuggling gang from Italy.
14 victims belonging to Kurram died in the said boat accident. The suspects grabbed Rs3.7 million to send a citizen named Shahzad Hussain to Europe. The suspects, in collusion with other accomplices, received huge amounts of money from several victims. The other accomplices of the suspects, Wajid Ali and Shah Faisal, were operating the gang from Italy.
FIA officials say that four mobile phones were recovered from the possession of the accused. Videos, photos, messages and bank transactions were also found on the mobile phones of the accused, and three bank accounts used by the accused have been frozen.
According to the officials, the victims were kept in safe houses in Libya and were subjected to torture. Later, the accused, along with other accomplices, tried to send the victims from Libya to Europe by boat, which met with an accident.
The Director of FIA Kohat Zone says that a crackdown is underway against the elements involved in the boat accidents, and all resources are being utilized to arrest them.
