‘Latif was drug addict and frequently asked his foster father for money’


(Web Desk): In a major breakthrough in the case of Dr. Akash Ansari, a famous Sindhi poet who was reportedly burned to death in his house, his foster son, Latif Akash, has confessed to the murder.
The investigating officer shared details on Monday, revealing that Latif killed Dr. Akash before setting his room on fire. The authorities have gathered all necessary evidence and are now waiting for the forensic and post-mortem reports.
The official also mentioned that Latif underwent DNA testing, and the police are still awaiting the results of the post-mortem and forensic examinations. It was revealed that Latif was a drug addict and frequently asked his foster father for money.
In a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Farrukh Lanjar confirmed that Dr. Akash was killed by his foster son using a sharp-edged weapon. Despite facing difficulties, the police managed to perform a post-mortem examination on Akash's body. The SSP stated that the investigation showed the poet's death was not an accident, but a deliberate murder.
Dr. Akash, 69, died in a fire at his home in Citizen Colony, Hyderabad, on Saturday. On Sunday, SSP Dr. Farrukh Lanjar revealed that initial findings indicated the poet was killed before the fire started. Although the post-mortem report was still pending, doctors confirmed that the death was not accidental.
The police had already detained Latif, along with the poet's driver, after suspicions arose that the death may not have been accidental. Akash’s cousin, Jan Mohammad Ansari, had earlier stated that the poet had filed a report against Latif for attempting to kill him. He also claimed that Latif had previously threatened his life.
