270-kg bar slipped from trainer’s hands and fell on Yashtika’s neck


Haryana: A gold medalist powerlifter at the Junior National Games in Haryana died after a 270-kg bar fell on her neck.
According to Indian media reports, this tragic incident took place yesterday at a gym in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, where a 270-kg bar fell on the neck of powerlifter Yashtika Acharya during a workout.
Immediately after the accident, 17-year-old Yashtika was taken to the hospital where doctors declared her dead.
According to the police, the trainer was training Yashtika in the gym when the 270-kg bar slipped from the trainer’s hands and fell on Yashtika’s neck, breaking it, while the trainer also suffered minor injuries in the accident.
A heartbreaking video of the accident has also emerged in which Yashtika can be seen standing for training before the accident and then the bar falls on her neck.
No case has been filed against the trainer by Yashtika's family at this time.
