(Web Desk): In the sixth match of the Champions Trophy, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets, shattering Pakistan's last hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals.
The match, played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, saw Bangladesh set a target of 237 runs for New Zealand after batting first. The Kiwi team successfully chased down the target with 5 wickets lost, qualifying for the semi-finals, while the defending champion Pakistan was eliminated from the Champions Trophy.
It is worth noting that Pakistan had suffered consecutive defeats in their group matches against New Zealand and India, which left their semi-final hopes hanging by a thread.
For Pakistan to make it to the semi-finals, it was essential for Bangladesh to defeat New Zealand by a large margin in today’s match, and India also had to defeat New Zealand by a heavy margin. Additionally, Pakistan needed to win their final match against Bangladesh by a significant margin.
Today's results have knocked both Pakistan and Bangladesh out of the semi-final race, while India and New Zealand have qualified from Group A.
