Instagram set to launch new app to compete with TikTok
Currently, TikTok has over 1.9 billion users worldwide, while Instagram has more than 2 billion users

(Web Desk): Although Instagram is generally considered a photo-sharing app, it is now set to become a video-sharing service as well.
Yes, Instagram is launching a separate app focused on short video Reels, according to a new report, although the company has not officially confirmed this yet.
The report from “The Information” states that Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, has discussed this with officials. This new app will be introduced to compete with TikTok, which is more popular globally than Instagram.
Currently, TikTok has over 1.9 billion users worldwide, while Instagram has more than 2 billion users.
Previously, Meta also launched an app called "Edits" for Instagram. In a video posted on Threads in January 2025, Adam Mosseri explained that Edits is a free video editing app that includes several tools.
He mentioned that one tab in the app is dedicated to inspiration, while another tracks initial ideas. He explained that the app's standard camera records high-quality videos, and all editing tools are available there.
In this app, users will be able to record videos up to 10 minutes long, which can then be edited using various tools, and different filters and effects will also be available.
