Chinese students to learn AI in school
Schools will teach AI lessons as separate subject or in combination with IT and science

Beijing: China has decided to teach children about artificial intelligence (AI) in primary and secondary schools.
According to a foreign news agency, the aim of teaching schoolchildren about artificial intelligence is to further develop the field of artificial intelligence in China and to train the necessary experts for it.
A statement from the Beijing Municipal Education Commission said that artificial intelligence lessons will be included in the curriculum of primary and secondary schools by the end of this year.
According to the report, schools will teach AI lessons as a separate subject or in combination with subjects such as information technology and science.
Authorities in Beijing are also looking into exploring more collaborations between universities and secondary schools to train future experts in the field of artificial intelligence.
China’s AI industry gained global attention earlier this year when a Chinese company, DeepSeek, launched a new and advanced version of its AI chatbot, proving its worth in global markets.
The company’s DeepSeek R1 large language model has attracted attention around the world and is rapidly gaining popularity. According to experts, the R1 model is no less than, if not better than, OpenAI’s o1 (the company that develops ChatGPT).
The company developed the R1 model for just $5.6 million, which is why it is being made available for free, giving a major blow to the US company’s monopoly in the artificial intelligence industry.
