Current account deficit was $1.73 billion during the same period last year


Karachi: The current account deficit decreased by more than $1 billion during the 8 months, due to which the balance of payments remained in surplus of $700 million.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the current account deficit was $1.73 billion during the same period last year. According to analysts, the current account deficit decreased due to an increase in remittances and exports.
The State Bank added that Pakistan’s balance of payments from July to February of the current fiscal year was in surplus of $700 million.
Last year, there was a deficit of $1.73 billion in the current account during the same period, resulting in a decrease in the current account deficit of more than $1 billion during the 8 months.
However, the balance of payments remained in a deficit of $12 million in February 2025, which is $387 million less than the deficit in January.
Analysts say that the current account deficit has decreased due to an increase in remittances and exports.
