Pakistan still ranks higher than its neighbors, India (118th) and Afghanistan (147th)

(Web Desk): Pakistan’s position in the World Happiness Report 2025 has slightly dropped, moving from 108th place last year to 109th this year.
However, it still ranks higher than its neighbors, India (118th) and Afghanistan (147th).
The report, published by Gallup and its partners, ranks 147 countries based on happiness levels, determined by surveys measuring quality of life from 2022 to 2024.
In South Asia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka rank 133rd and 134th, while Iran, with a 3.9% refugee population, does better at 99th. China leads Asia at 27th place.
Globally, Finland remains the happiest country for the seventh year in a row, followed by Denmark and Iceland. Other top countries include Sweden, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, and Norway. The United States and the United Kingdom have seen major drops, with the US falling to 24th place (its lowest ever) and the UK dropping to 23rd (its worst ranking since 2017). At the bottom of the list are Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.
The report also emphasizes that social support, income levels, personal freedoms, life expectancy, and corruption play important roles in shaping happiness. This year’s findings highlight how “caring and sharing” can improve overall well-being.
