Islamabad: The government failed to provide Rs163 per kg of sugar, due to which the people are forced to buy expensive sugar.
Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain claimed that sugar is available in the country at Rs163 per kg. The problem with the price of sugar is due to hoarders and profiteers, while sugar reserves are abundant.
He assured that there would be no unusual increase in sugar prices.
The Federal Minister’s claims are valid, but the price of sugar is much higher across the country. Sugar is still being sold at Rs175 to Rs180 per kg in Quetta and Rs170 in Karachi.
