Number of injured has reached 2,400


The death toll from the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand has exceeded 1,000.
According to a foreign news agency, official figures show that 1,002 people were killed and 2,400 injured in the earthquake in Myanmar.
The news agency says that rescue teams are busy extracting people buried in the rubble, while the US agency has expressed fears that more than 10,000 people may have died in the earthquake.
According to media reports, the earthquake that struck Myanmar's second-largest city, Mandalay, was so severe that its tremors were also felt in the Thai capital, Bangkok, 900 kilometers away, where several structures and buildings collapsed.
In addition, tremors were also felt in the Indian states of Meghalaya and Manipur, the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, and China.
On the other hand, Bangkok authorities say they have received 2,000 reports of cracks in construction structures, and 10 people have died and 100 workers are missing after a high-rise building under construction collapsed.
It is pertinent to note that a powerful earthquake was felt in Myanmar and Thailand yesterday. According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake had a magnitude of 7.7 and a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter of the earthquake was 17.2 kilometers from the city of Mandalay, Myanmar.
