Despite govt claims, people forced to buy sugar for up to Rs180 per kg

Islamabad: Despite government announcements, citizens are forced to buy sugar for up to Rs180 per kg.

The average price of sugar per kg has decreased by Rs1.61 in a week, but sugar is the most expensive in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, and Peshawar.

According to the latest data from the Statistics Department, the maximum price of sugar in the country is Rs180 and the average price is Rs168.80 per kg.

It is pertinent to note that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced to fix the retail price of sugar at Rs164 per kg and Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer had claimed that the price of sugar in the country was Rs163 per kg.
