Five killed, 15 injured after two rival groups develop dispute over land, potato crop in Swat
Swat: At least five people were killed and 15 others suffered wounds after two groups exchanged words over land and potato crop and then opened fire in Kenai Banda area of Swat on Saturday, GNN reported.
Policemen and Army troops rushed to the crime scene soon after the incident. Kalam and Iblian-e-Atroro exchanged arguments over standing crops of potato. the exchange of words led to armed clash between the two sides.
The situation remained tense even after the arrival of police and security forces. The area notables and administration is in the process of negotiations.
Sources said some drivers of both tribes had been beaten and kidnapped and that tourists visiting the areas were also stuck due to tense situation.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals.
Commisisoner Malakand Division Zaheerul Islam, speaking on the occasion said a ceasefire deal had reached between the two sides with the help of two other tribes.
He said efforts are being made to help release the hostages of both sides, adding the Amy, police and administration is monitoring the current situation.
