Naqvi will serve two-year term as ACC president

(Web Desk): Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has been named the new president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
This decision was made during a virtual meeting of the ACC's executive committee, according to sources. The formal announcement will be made soon.
Naqvi will serve a two-year term as the ACC president, taking over from India's Jay Shah, who has held the position for some time. Shah, who is also the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), had his term as ACC secretary extended in January 2024. The role of ACC president rotates among member countries.
Naqvi became PCB chairman in February 2024, appointed for a three-year term. In addition to leading the PCB, Naqvi is also Pakistan's interior minister. To manage his responsibilities, he has decided to share duties with former Pakistan cricket captain Waqar Younis. While Naqvi will focus on administrative matters within the PCB, Younis will act as an advisor on cricket-related issues. Younis will be responsible for overseeing both international and domestic cricket matters, including the selection committee and issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players.
The PCB's 2014 constitution allows the chairman to delegate some of his duties to other officials, which is why Naqvi and Younis have made this arrangement to help manage their workloads effectively.
