National airline last achieved profit in year 2003


Karachi: The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has achieved a net profit of billions of rupees after 21 years.
According to the spokesperson, the national airline earned an operational profit of Rs9.3 billion and a net profit of Rs26.2 billion in 2024.
The spokesperson said that the national airline's operating margin was more than 12 percent, which is comparable to that of the best airlines.
The national airline last achieved a profit in the year 2003.
On the remarkable performance of the national airline, Minister of Defense and Aviation Khawaja Asif said that the public had lost hope in the airline, which is considered the pride of the nation. A positive change in the PIA has been possible due to the strict measures of the government.
Khawaja Asif also said that the national airline earned an operating profit of Rs9.3 billion in the fiscal year 2024 and after 21 years, it has earned a net profit of Rs26.2 billion. The national airline was restructured and rationalized in costs and manpower.
Federal Minister Khawaja Asif added that the PIA is now ready to benefit from financial performance through privatization. Good news is coming from all sides under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He added that comprehensive reforms have been implemented under the reform of routes and financial discipline.
