Decision comes in context of 92 percent cut in budget for foreign aid programs

Washington: The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has announced that the 15-year-old Global Undergraduate Exchange Program for Pakistan (Global U-Grad) has been discontinued.
The program provided Pakistani students with the opportunity to study for one semester at US universities and colleges without a degree.
According to USEFP, the US Department of State has informed that the program will no longer continue. Expressing deep regret over this sudden decision, the agency said that it is proud of the experiences of thousands of students who have benefited from this program for education, cultural exchange, and leadership development.
The decision comes in the context of a 92 percent cut in the budget for foreign aid programs by the US President Donald Trump administration.
The Trump administration says that all such projects that are not consistent with the ‘America First’ agenda will be closed.
USEFP urges students to continue exploring other scholarship and exchange programs to further their education and dreams.
