ATC announces verdict in Khalil-ur-Rehman’s honey trap, kidnapping case
Judge sentenced accused to seven years in prison each for crime of demanding ransom


Lahore: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore has pronounced its verdict in the honey trap and kidnapping for ransom case of renowned playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.
The Lahore ATC, while pronouncing its verdict in the honey trap and kidnapping for ransom case of renowned playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman, convicted three accused while acquitting the others.
While pronouncing the verdict in the case, Judge Arshad Javed sentenced the accused Amna Urooj, Mamnoon Haider, and Zeeshan to seven years in prison each for the crime of demanding ransom. However, the court ruled that the charge of kidnapping could not be proven, hence, no punishment was given on this basis.
The court acquitted Hassan Shah and other named persons due to insufficient evidence. According to the court, the prosecution had recorded the testimonies of 17 witnesses, in the light of which the verdict was pronounced.
It is pertinent to note that in this case, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was allegedly kidnapped through a honey trap and later a ransom was demanded from him.
